ARE YOU READY FOR CHURCH MEMBERSHIP?

A large letterboard sign on a white building reads 'Summer Family Reunion.' The word 'Family' is in a colorful, retro style script.

WHY CHURCH MEMBERSHIP?

We believe that belonging to a local church body is a part of God’s desire for your faith journey.

We long for you to discover your place here.

We hope for our community to be a better place because of the work God is doing through Woodland Hills.

FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST ALONE

Although we have all sinned and cannot be made right with God through our own efforts, we can receive the gift of eternal life through trusting in Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection.

To become a member of  WHFC, you need to have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior - you have placed faith alone in Christ alone.

BAPTIZED?

Baptism is a special step in your journey with Jesus

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision. By being baptized, you are telling the world that you love Jesus and choose to follow and live your life for Him.

To become a member of  WHFC, you need to be baptized (or be scheduled to be baptized).

FAQs

We believe that belonging to a local church body is a part of God’s desire for your faith journey.

The local church body is where you contribute to God's redemptive work by using your spiritual gifts in ministry.

The local church body is where you find community and growth in your faith and obedience to Jesus.

The local church body is where you worship our Father as a family of faith.

1). Acknowledge that you are a sinner and you need a Savior.

2). Place faith alone in Christ alone for your salvation.

- Scripture states, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”  ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‬‬

IS BAPTISM NEEDED FOR SALVATION?

No. Salvation comes through faith alone in Christ alone. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality. It is an important step of obedience to publicly profess the faith you have already placed in Jesus.

I WAS BAPTIZED AS AN INFANT. DO I NEED TO BE BAPTIZED AGAIN?

Yes. Since baptism is a public proclamation of your faith in Jesus Christ, baptism should come AFTER placing your faith in Jesus.

WHY IMMERSION BAPTISM?

We follow the example of Jesus. He was baptized by John the Baptist and was immersed in the Jordan River.

DO I NEED TO HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED TO JOIN WOODLAND HILLS?

Yes, or have your baptism scheduled.

I LIVE PART-TIME IN THE OZARKS, SO I CAN'T ATTEND EVERY WEEK

No worries! When you are in the area, we encourage you to gather in person so we can see you! When you are not in the area, we encourage you to gather with us online @ 10am Central.

GATHERING TIMES & SEATING OPTIONS

  • Woodland Hills is Growing! We ask covenant members to help make space for visitors by attending either the 8:15a or 11:45a Gatherings.
  • We have plenty of seats available in a variety of engaging seating environments, and we ask covenant members to be willing to give up their seat in the Castle if  space becomes a challenge.

CAN I JUST WATCH ONLINE?

We understand that some are not able to gather in person, but something special happens when we gather on campus, and we don't want you to miss out! We encourage all members to gather in person as often as possible to contribute their presence and gifts to our church family.

DO I HAVE TO BE A CHURCH MEMBER TO SERVE AS A VOLUNTEER?

Many ministry areas require church membership to be eligible to volunteer.

Some ministry areas also require attending for six months before serving.

Several ministry areas also require volunteers to pass a background check to ensure a safe environment for our kids.

I WAS IN CHARGE OF A PROGRAM AT MY PREVIOUS CHURCH THAT WHFC DOESN'T HAVE; CAN I START IT HERE?

Probably not. We are driven by purpose, so we would encourage you to find an existing area of ministry where you can put your spiritual gifts to work. Our ministries are focused on addressing the five purposes of the church.

DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER IF I BECOME A MEMBER?

No. While we want all of our members to experience the joy of serving others, we understand that there are seasons of life when volunteering needs to be limited or paused. We pray that if you are in a season like this, our weekly gatherings will refresh your soul.

DO SOME MINISTRIES REQUIRE VOLUNTEERS TO ADHERE TO CODES OF CONDUCT?

Yes. Several ministries ask volunteers to commit to specific standards in their spiritual life, personal integrity, social media activity, and participation. Be sure to connect with individual ministries if you have more questions.

I LIVE WITH MY BOYFRIEND OR GIRLFRIEND. CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?

No. We want to sign your marriage license before we sign your membership covenant.
