We meet in a castle. We hand out free coffee and free sodas that you can take into worship with you. But what’s it really like on a Sunday morning? What do people wear? Where do I take my kids? Visiting a new church can be overwhelming and a bit intimidating. So we’d like to spell things out for you as much as possible right here on our website so you know exactly what to expect.
1. Get comfortable. At Woodland Hills, we are much more interested in who you are rather than what you wear. If you are most comfortable in a coat and tie, that’s fine. But most of the people you’ll see at our church will be in jeans and casual attire.
2. Where’s the Castle? Our address is 3953 Green Mountain Dr., Branson, MO. You will find us just off the west end of Hwy 76, or “The Strip,” directly across from the Roy Rogers Museum (watch for the giant horse!).
3. Beyond the Castle walls. Once you park your car, you will be met at the entrance by our friendly greeters. Just inside the doors is the Welcome Center. Have kids? Stop here to check in to our children’s programs. You can also stop here if you have any questions about where to go or what to do. No little ones to check in? Just skip to number “5.”
4. Critter Street & Wild Woods. You will notice our children's department immediately because it will be all around you! On your left is Critter Street, the ministry for preschool children. On your right is Wild Woods, the area for kids in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. If it sounds loud and crazy - it is! No need to worry, the kids LOVE it!
Checking them in. The Welcome Center attendant will gather some information about you and each of your children in order to check them in. But this won't take too long. This is to ensure their safety so you don’t have to worry about them while you’re in the service.
-
If you have little ones, you will receive a nametag for your child and his or her bag.
-
Older children will just receive a nametag.
-
All children, Critter Street and Wild Woods, will also receive computer generated check-in sheets.
-
You will present this to your child’s room leader or small group leader when you drop off your child.
-
Relax. You will also receive a tag that has your family number on it. If your child needs you during the service, this number will appear up on our screens in the theatre. No need to check on your child. We’ll let you know if we need you.
-
Immediately after the service, return to the Welcome Center to check your child out.
5. The Theatre. Grab a free soda on the way in or bring your coffee from the complimentary coffee bar. There are cup holders for your convenience, so your worship won’t be inhibited! Browse our bulletin and prepare for worship.
6. Worship. Music is an important part of the worship experience at Woodland Hills. Our worship band leads contemporary praise music, and the words will be projected on the large screens. We have a wonderful variety of ages and stages at Woodland Hills, so you may see people sitting, standing, closing their eyes or raising their hands as they worship. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. Worship in a way that feels comfortable for you. No one will ever single you out as a visitor or ask you to stand and be recognized.
9. Teaching. The messages have an easy, relational style that applies biblical truths in a way that you can understand. Our goal at Woodland Hills is to equip you with God’s Truth that you can apply in your daily life.
10. On Your Way Out. Our first service typically ends at 10:45am, and our second service ends at 12:30pm. If you need prayer, there are church members who gather at the front of the theatre after each service who would love to pray with you. If you have questions about our ministries, you can head back to the Welcome Center and they will be happy to assist you. If you have children, return to the Welcome Center to check them out. Once you receive a check out sheet, you can present it to your child’s room or group leader and your child will be released to you. We hope to see you back next week!
